Nailed it.

update alert. 12/04/06  see above. Slow Change of Heart.  concerning Mormons - NOT Democrats;)

I finally found the words to explain to people why Christians might vote Democrat over Mormons.  Now I would never vote Democrat unless they went back to their roots in the early part of the last century.  I am against child labor although my father wasn't.  I believe women are capable of making good decisions at the voting booth although single women still haven't proven it.  I am against slavery.  Oh and rape, too.  But it seems their (Dems) job is done and they can stop what they are currently doing and become productive instead.

But I digress.  As an evangelical I can see why lapsed Christians would vote for Hilary or Bill or Charlie or Jessie etc.  We know that these folks claim to be Christians (the pols), might even believe in Jesus as Savior, but we know that they don't take Him seriously.  They like the Savior part but not the Lord part.  The carnal part of them, the human desire parts take over easily.    They don't want to be bothered with Scripture unless they get in trouble.  That's human, I can see that.  I'm not perfect.  Ted Kennedy even goes so far as not to impose religion on himself, he is that fervent in separation of Church and other things.

But the important thing to note is that nobody is fooled  or deceived  by them.  We know they aren't serious Christians.  But they at least claim it.   This gives some folks an "out" and relieves their mind as they pull the lever for Jimma Carta (even though it is clear that he is a liberal idealist first, then a Christian).

The Mormons claim it but are most certainly not Christians.  Their Jesus is a son spirit along with his brother Satan, in their beliefs.   www.carm.org  look under Mormonism

This is what bothers Christians so much.  They are deceiving others about Jesus.  This is dangerous.  The other lapsed Christians are merely comical and annoying.  That is the difference.

We cannot and will not vote for deceivers.

The Scarlet Challenge

It is time, once again, to lose fat.  I got married last summer and had slimmed down to a respectable 190 lbs.  Now, six months later, I weigh in at 225 lbs.  Pretty impressive.  You know, a lot of people do not appreciate that gaining weight takes perserverance and effort.  Many times I wanted to get up off the couch and go to the gym.  I planned many early morning workouts but sacrificed those to lie in bed with my new bride instead.  I turned down many helpings of broccoli to bravely eat more cheese.  You can't just gain 35 lbs overnight.   I had to eat pizza after pizza, develop a relationship with the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru lady and go back to my Southern roots and drink SWEET tea.  Not iced tea that is sweetened - SWEET tea.  You'd know the difference if you ever visit us down here.   And the Hershey company calls me all worried if I haven't bought the big bag of Reese's cups on a weekly basis.

Now, even when I slim down considerably I still weigh more than I look.  For instance when I get my waist down to 34 I still weigh 190.  What I want is to be the body double for the new James Bond (just so I can wear that swimsuit and embarass my wife in public).  But I'd have to weigh like, what, 160?  Not gonna happen unless they make cheeseburgers taste like sushi.

Say, that swimsuit thing reminds me of a joke. This guy from Massachusetts notices that his friend from Georgia is getting all the attention from the lovely ladies at the beach.  He asks him for advice on how to get attention.  The Georgia guy tells him to put a potato in his speedos.  The next day, the Mass guy trys it out.  The girls scream in disgust when they see him and run away.  His Georgia buddy yells down the beach to him, "In the front!  Put it in the front!"

So my point is that I know it's not all about weight it is also about inches.  My weight has fluxuated much in the past 14 years.   I was on the beer and cigarettes diet for quite a while but then I got saved and found out that was not good for you.   To get ready for the wedding I started early and was really motivated.  I ate less and ate smarter.
Here's what it took last time:
Kashi cereal  ( not the sweet mix, either)
Cut way down on starches - buns, rolls, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes
Increase intake of berries, peaches, kiwis, melons etc.  (NOT citrus though and take it easy on bananas and apples)
 Chicken and tuna
miles and miles o' runnin'  (this part stinks)

This time I'm aiming to lose fast at first and then cruise to my birthday weighing 185.  This gives me about 5 months.

I will do it slightly different this time.  Less running and stricter diet.  My knees can't take the pounding like they used to.  Supposedly one can lose by body excercises and weight training.  We shall see.  I hate running, did I mention that?

My stated goals:  185 lbs 33 inch waist.  15 pull-ups.  Bench 210 eight times.  ( I am terrible at benching)
Right now I weigh 225lbs, 42 inch waist, 4 pullups, bench 175 eight times.

And we're off....
So I will post updates for you as I go.
